Why Security Balanced?

Security Balanced was born out of a simple realization: most solo entrepreneurs and small businesses are left behind when it comes to cybersecurity. They often don’t know where to start—or worse, assume they're too small to be a target. I created Security Balanced to change that.

With over 14 years of experience as Director of Engineering at ADP, I led global engineering teams responsible for running and automating infrastructure for some of the most critical systems in workforce management. My work focused on improving reliability at scale, reducing operational costs, and securing massive hosting environments with thousands of users and complex integrations.

More recently, I led the engineering team at a third-party risk management SaaS startup using AI/ML to help enterprises evaluate their vendors’ cybersecurity posture. That experience deepened my understanding of how businesses think about risk and compliance—and how difficult it can be for small companies to meet those expectations.

But the idea for Security Balanced came from something more personal. My wife launched her own bookkeeping business aimed at solo and micro-entrepreneurs. Helping her set up secure systems, automate her workflows, and manage client data safely made me realize how underserved this market truly is. There are millions of smart, capable business owners out there who just need a trustworthy, no-nonsense guide to get their cybersecurity right from the start.

That’s where I come in—blending enterprise-level experience with the practicality and empathy that small business owners deserve. No scare tactics. Just balanced, real-world security built for your size and needs.
